Thanks for the greeting! Yeah my science fiction series is part of my own Project Film Nostalgic I just initiated. Simply put: science fiction with a nostalgic feel like watching your childhood shows and films of what ever action film you saw. Like for example creating a sci fi inspired by Robocop or Aliens. It's my new glorious salvation for the old retro waves I grew up seeing. All mid-20th century pop culture influences and whatnot. I've said this in a blog that my sci fi takes alot of traits from alot of old action flicks form the 80s and 90s (including 70s).
I sure am preparing to update my content soo keep a nice eye out for that on the main page possibly this week. I'm on break of collage soo I'd like to get started on making new chapters for my novel. Been reading alot of William Gibson's Sprawl novels to gain insparation. Plus I have high-speed internet so I can download GIMP to try to make artwork for my project.
As of now my current project sorta mirrors Aliens but has some Warhammer 40k similarities. I'm trying hard to write a new plot layout but it will possibly be about another week before I can release any details. This past moth has killed me between school and playing Fallout.
EDIT: Screw it all. Although it will have some cultural references but I aim it to make it original as I can.
as logn as you dont copy ideas and avoid copyright, good luck with your own. I know the feeling as I've been stuck with university work since the near end of september
Immediately after posting I just went to a simple set of originality instead. It will however mirror Starship Troopers and Aliens (Much how like Aliens and Halo did). First things first I aim to write and provide a back story on the Third World War and how technology became rapidly advance between 1984/1999 (Much like how some of the films and novels then envisioned the future in due time).
The first series will start in WWIII, The second chronicles will take place after in a deserted Post-Apocalypse world (Will mirror Mad Max with resources dwindling and deserted settlements. But in sense of keeping up with the cyberpunk genre, the resources are geared to building huge isolated cities, spaceships, and androids)
I get tired of today's shows and films so I have a nostalgic craving for old school styled fiction. And it's also to keep on with the tradition of the corresponding genres and themes it will have.
I hate copycats though, but I will try to keep alot of things original.
sounds very intersting. if you manage to compelete it I would like to read it sometime and let you know what I think of it.
As for me, I'm doing the same for my series, they have some elements of some series like Assassins Creed, star wars, Warhammer but keeping them to a limit for the series to be more original and based on some ideas from history and mythology. One of them will take place in the Society Chronicles where it sets in the present time when an organization uses advance technology in a secret war agianst a group of aliens behind the manipulation humanity's history; making them go to war, experimenting on them, manipulating governments under their control for their own purpose. some races would be native to earth, about all four including humans yet they remain oblivious of the three races' existence yet.
I wanted to add some alien species but I was bored of the idea. But I have decided to have other sci fi projects to cover them. Star Millennia is currently going through a personal development hell, but it's just in it's first steps of infancy, so it will be a long while before I can firmly have an official novel or comic whatever.
I'm studying criminal justice, and plan on becoming a constitutional defense lawyer so I have no idea what will become of this science fiction of mine. I do hope one day it will see the screens, and possibly have a cult following. I expect nothing major of it, but I do hope I can make something out of it.
I plan on doing artwork, and possibly have a community to make this alive. I just need to find some time to study and draw manga in a traditional way and add a 80s/90s feel.
Alright I'm working on a new draft of the sci fi. It will be different from the current version but I am currently caught up with other things in life but expect major revamps and updates soon. I will post some new specks of articles too in the near future. The sci fi is still in it's infancy so it will be possibly a long time before a final product is made.
Same thing for me, one of my stories, the child of earth would seriously need a revamp but sticking to the same era such as the zon ghoul war but in a different setting with university coming closer it may take some time to write it
I am trying to see how I can reshape the story's plot. This goes with the current Star Millennia series. In fact since Star Millennia is already an anthology type series (Star Millennia has no official canon in my new draft since it will now only cover stand alone series so it's more of a cover title. And it makes it more of a multiverse consisting of various realities. So far The Loveheart Chronicles (Working title since I've written it) is still set in an alternative 1990s era (But will possibly take place in a more traditional cyberpunk setting of 2024) and humanity is building a large super space highway across the solar system to cover known territories. Mars is being converted into a mega city but other Earth planets have been discovered and quickly established space colonies and metropolises. Also WWII will be followed by WWIII in the 1980s but only lasted for 3 years due to technology advancements and only saw little nuclear use despite the fear that it would have been earth consuming. Afterwards the U.N forcefully phased the remaining world powers into a peace treaty and became the United Sol System Alliance (AKA Earth Federation) and began further space exploration. Mars had been inhabited by scientists in 1986 and by 1994 had build a small city and space colony. Soviet Union expanded and became the United Soviet Colonies System (USCS) and China became The People's Celestial Solar Colonies of China. Three superstates and a split solar system. Space travel became very common in early 1992 after it was commercialized by SpaceWave Industries.
It's pretty alternative but merely fictional. I try to balance realism and fictionalizing of it. Earth was now underpopulated by 2030 and only about 1/3 of the pop had traveled into other worlds and on Earth militia organizations started growing widespread but police organizations and military forces where minimal. Of course many started to work on their own security forces and private military companies.
Pretty much in overhaul with the ENTIRE series. Articles are being remade and I think I need to combine some of the ideas that are getting to much out of my reach. A simple timeline era (Not to far but not to close) and I think it will be awhile before anything is official. The article once known as The Loveheart Chronicles is being renamed yet again and the new draft is being prepped with tons of new ideas. The article of Star Millennia is undergoing revamp as well. It's pretty much a different universe in the 20th century. WWII brought in huge metropolises and expanded cities into organization, crime rates skyrocketed after humans left for space colonies, police forces where being phased out of existences only to be replaced by the Galactic Marshals (Sol System Special Police Unit) and other PMC and private security and police forces.
Bah I'm tired of this shit with Star Wars and all that so I am fully set to go full speed with the series I'm making. How Disney loves to destroy your favorite childhood films (And before that Lucas had lost his edge when making ep 6 and his prequels) is beyond me. But unlike Lucas I will NOT create some shitty fantasy series with "cute teddy bears" and "annoying floppy eared bastards" that would just make you sick to the stomach. Nope not at all. In fact Lucas was once on my top 10 influences but after a series of unfortunate events...It's time that I follow my own path and crate a series based on some epic nostalgic awesomeness.
So anyways I'm just taking a break from some of the writing I've been doing (And to tell you guys the truth I have been struggling with a minor amount of writers block but I just try to force myself to write something regardless...And making some edits and changes to the draft to better fit my taste. First chapter is still WIP so it will still be awhile before anything comes up. As for the articles...They will be fixed and re-written.
Yeah getting inspired helps gives you ideas and learn from them and mistakes to avoid
I have already have things in mid of course...
When writing I tend to be more of an architect. I also try to make appropriate grammar and how the story will set fourth and true. I also try to be a bit artsy with my writing although I have not been able to do much recently but eventually I will go fourth.
You could never be "all set" there is absolutely no conceivable way you could have seen everything ever created. There's still stuff out there I haven't seen. But to be fair, there is also some stuff I don't want to watch. Also, you should worry about proper grammar and punctuation last, get your ideas out, they call this the "vomit draft" phase. Where you spew out all of your ideas and you pick out the chunky/important stuff. But also, you shouldn't presume that you're the only one that approaches their work as an architect/artist. Just saying. Friendly discourse.
