Mexico, is a federal republic in North America. It is bordered on the north by the United States; on the south and west by the Pacific Ocean; on the southeast by the Central American Commonwealth and the Caribbean Sea; and on the east by the Gulf of Mexico. Covering almost two million square kilometres (over 760,000 sq mi), Mexico is the fifth largest country in the Americas by total area and the 10th largest independent nation in the world. With a population of over 173 million, it is the fifteenth most populous and the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world and the second most populous country in Latin America. Mexico is a federation comprising thirty states and three Federal Districts (its capital and two federal territories, one in the north and one in the south).
The XXI century Mexico was characterized by huge economic growth and social instability, the Drug War, the Mexican intervention on Central America that led to the creation of the CAC, a civil war, ecological collapse and a Proxy War with the USA known as the Lázaro Incident. The latter led to the Second Mexican Revolution in 2092, which culminated with the promulgation of the Ramírez-Garza Promulgation of 2095 and the emergence of the country's current political and social stability. In March 2083, the first Mexican permanent colony on Mars was stablished.
Mexico has one of the world's largest economies, it is the sixth largest deuterium producer in the world, the fifth Podys producer in the world and a prominent base for the import and refinement of Rexium. In addition, Mexico was the first Latin American member of the Colonial Authority, and considered to be main promoter and author of the PAC. The economy of Mexico is strongly linked to those of its Pan-American partners, especially Brazil. Mexico ranks fifth in the world, first in the Americas and fifth in the Sol System by number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites with 52, and since 2165 it's been the tenth most visited country on Earth with 92.5 million intrasolar arrivals per year. The country was the first Latin American country to establish a permanent presence in outer space, first on Luna in 2071 and after that on Mars in 2083.
